De to første bindene, The land of Dreams (Drømmenes
land) og Only the Dead (De døde) har fått strålende mottakelse i USA med
positive anmeldelser i toneangivende aviser som Washington Post og New York
Times, og lanseringen av siste bind har allerede blitt lagt merke til. Det
anerkjente bransjebladet Kirkus Review skriver: «The last in Sundstøl's
Minnesota Trilogy is the most like a traditional mystery while continuing
the mystical images and stunning descriptions that make for a superb reading
experience.» Sundstøl skal også på en omfattende Minnesota-turne i
forbindelse med lanseringen.
Amerikansk presse om Minnesota-trilogien:
«The Land of Dreams is a brilliant investigation into the darkest of all
mysteries-the human heart. In its complexity and beauty, the story is every
bit the equal of the landscape in which it is , the stunning North Shore
of Minnesota.»-William Kent Krueger, author of Ordinary Grace
«The first of Sundstøl's Minnesota trilogy to be published in the U.S. is
literate, lyrically descriptive, and mystical. The next can't come too
soon.» -Kirkus Reviews, starred review
«What wonders there are in America's own backyard, if we only think to look.
That's what the Norwegian writer Vidar Sundstøl does in The Land of Dreams.»
-New York Times Book Review
«The story is very far from complete, but it has created a world, past and
present, and not terribly benign, that I can scarcely wait to enter again.»
-Katherine A. Powers, Washington Post
«Like the central movement of a dark Grieg symphony, this brief second
installment of Norwegian author Sundstøl's Minnesota Trilogy resounds with
two stunning variations on a single theme: the complex motivations behind
murders that link brotherhood, love, and death. Readers will eagerly await
The Ravens, the trilogy's conclusion.» -Publishers Weekly
«The second in Sundstøl's Minnesota trilogy is a darker, more meditative
mystery than the first, shot through with Gothic Romanticism and chilly
metaphor.» -Star Tribune
